Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology - Fifty Sites, Fifty Stories [logo]

To celebrate the Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology's 50th year in 2020, we are collecting stories about important historical archaeological sites from the Australasian region.

The team was overwhelmed by the number of nominations received for our '50 Sites, 50 Stories' celebratory list and we have been busy checking through them all and compiling the data. We are now excited to announce that voting time is finally here!/p>

Here's a few notes about voting to get you prepared:

  • Voting will be open from 19-31 October 2020
  • Voting will be conducted via online survey. Members will receive a unique link to the survey in their email. This link can only be used once. Please contact the 50 sites team if you are a current member and have not received a voting link.
  • Members will be able to vote for up to 15 of their favourite sites from the more than 100 that were nominated.
  • Before you vote, you can read more about each site in the summary sheet, which can be found on our 50 Sites, 50 Stories here.
  • This map created by the talented Nick Pitt from Archaeology Near Me, might also be of assistance in undertaking your voting selection.

Results of the voting will be revealed at our 50th Anniversary Event, to be held on Thursday 26th November, 2020.

Thank you for your support of the ASHA 50 Sites 50 Stories initiative celebrating 50 Years of the Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology.

If you have any further questions about the voting process, please reach out to our 50 Sites team at
